This bed is perfect for my 4 and 2 year old boys. It’s not so high that I worry about my 4 year old on the top and my youngest is close enough to the floor that I don’t worry about him getting hurt when he will inevitably fall out since he just moved from a crib. The bed was pretty easy to assemble and took me 2 hrs putting the bed together by myself (would have been faster if I had help). After reading reviews I set out all the pieces and read through the entire directions before assembling. That probably helped.

Love the look of this bunk bed and really like having my toddler close to the floor on the bottom bunk. It was really easy to assemble by my self in an afternoon. This was the highest weight rating that I found for "low bunks" at 400 lbs per bunk where many others were 200 lb limit. The only reason this is a 4 star rating instead of 5 star is because of the spacing of the support slats. They are too far apart in my opinion. So, I decided to put both sets on the top bunk and buy another set of supports for the bottom. I went with these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NVLHBUW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Worked like a charm. Now both beds feel extra sturdy and you can't feel the slats through a foam mattress. Very happy with this product.

I most certainly have never written a review this long but, I felt I needed to save people some time and frustration. The bed came nicely packaged (although the poor UPS driver who carried it in looked like he was going to keel over-the package was very heavy). I organized/separated all the screws and pieces and started to put it together by myself. I found it easier to put all the numbered pieces to the inside.I did need another person to help me connect the head and foot of the bed. All was going well until, I tried to connect the metal stabilizing bar that braces the top bunk. Somehow the tough rubber that caps both the top and bottom of this bar was also obstructing the holes where you needed to put screw through. Because the rubber was so tough, I was unable to just jam a screwdriver in it to clear the hole. I finally had to get my drill. That did the trick and the holes were then clear to continue the construction of the bed. I would say it took me several hours to put this bed together but several weeks before it was ready to sleep on.I would heartedly agree with most, that the instructions are not the best. They could have been clearer with words not just pictures. In my excitement, I put the bed together and then thought the slats were too far apart (1st photo)!!! I went to furniture stores and looked at other bunks that did not require Bunkie boards (all the slats were much closer together than this bed). More work for me!!! I decided to purchase additional bed slats through Amazon. *Classic Brands Xtreme Heavy-Duty Solid Wood Bed Support Slats Bunkie Board, Twin* ($59.00). I disconnected all the slats which I had installed and reconfigured. I took all the slats they sent with the bed (the ones meant for the top and bottom bed) and put them all on the top bed (you have to cut the cloth pieces that connect the slats (the slats originally meant for the bottom bed) and place them in between the slats (meant for the top bed) that are already connected. The additional slats I purchased, I placed on the bottom bed. The wood slats from Classic Brand only had pre-hold drills in the first and last slats but the mattress is not going anywhere on the bottom bed even with the rest of individual slats not being screwed in (3rd photo). You would most likely have to drill your own holes and screw all of them into the bed if you used these on the top bunk. On the bottom though, the WORKED GREAT!My biggest issue was my search for twin mattresses. BEWARE!!! I went to at least 8 different mattress and furniture store. There are no standard twin mattresses anymore (39x75). I took my measuring tape with me to each store and measured each twin mattress. No two were the same size and none of them were 39x75!! Who would have guessed and what is up with that!!! I broke down and bought memory foam mattresses through Amazon (although I was truly uncomfortable about purchasing a mattress which I could not try out first). These types of mattresses are the only ones that you will find that are 39X75 inches (and you do need that size for these beds). I purchased Jingwei Twin Mattress, 8-inch gel infused memory foam in a box. I could not be happier (2nd photo)! You can put the entire bed together with the hex wrenches they supply, a Phillip’s screwdriver and a mallet. No power tools required for assembly. It is very sturdy and with the extra slats I added, it is PERFECT. My granddaughters 7 and 3 love it!!!! The only reason I did not give it a 5 was the following:(1) The instructions need to be clearer.(2) I should not have had any issues with the metal stabilizing bar-which I had*** In my opinion, the slats were not close enough together to provide adequate support or safety. The manufacturer should include more slats even if that increases the cost of the bed. It would have saved a me a lot of time and frustration if the correct number of slats were included and someone had warned me about standard size twin inter spring mattresses***Read more

Received this bunkbed a week ago. Put it together the same day. It's been a week and it still has a very strong chemical odor despite being low VOC. I haven't allowed my kids in the room since the smell is so strong it fills the room. I understand gassing off furniture but how long should I "gas off" this bunkbed. I leave my kids bedroom window opened for hours a day as long as possible and sometimes over night with a fan and still the chemical smell is very strong. I also did not receive all items as described in the Feature and Details section. I should have received solid pine slats with bunkbed order. Instead I received plywood slats. Yesterday I sent a question to the seller on why I received plywood and not solid pine slats. I received no response. Yet overnight the Feature and Details section slyly changed from Solid Pine Slats to Wood Slats. How shady is that? So Sneaky! I received no response or explanation from the seller answering my question. I have a screen shot of the original advertised Feature and Details and the Max & Lily website stating that Solid Pines Slats come with this bed. Today I contacted Amazon customer service who contacted the manufacturer and was told they switch over to plywood slats for durability. I was told to send an email to the manufacture Maxwood furniture and that they would send me solid pine slats as advertised. I hoping they honor what was originally advertised. I am not trying to make a big fuss about this but I would like what I paid for the Solid Pine Slats. I researched for weeks before deciding on purchasing this bed. I do not want these plywood slats they are poorly glued together and flaking dust from the weird brown stains on the wood, also most plywoods are glued together with urea formaldehyde. Solid Pine Wood is what attracted me to this bunkbed to begin with. Sad, is this false advertisement? I took a big risk on this order the most expensive item I ever ordered on Amazon and now I am truly dissapointed. I'm still waiting on a response from the manufacturer for the Solid Pine slats. I am now on the fence about whether to keep or return this bed. :(Read more

When sleeping on bottom bunk, can you feel the person on the top bunk moving around?

Twin

A Twin bed also referred to as a single bed is one of the smallest bed in the market with a dimension of 38’’ by 75’’. Its compact size makes it ideal for single sleepers may it be children or an adult living in a small space such as a studio apartment. It’s an affordable and versatile bed set up for various sleepers such as toddlers and college student in the dorm. For over several decades it has been one of the most popular beds among college students and young children in their early teens as you can find it in most of their bedrooms, however in this modern age where people are seeking for more comfort and space, the popularity of twin beds is been over taken by queen size beds. Despite being great for growing children it’s also very flexible and versatile especially if you are trying to maximize the space in your bedroom.

Blue

A Blue bed creates a soothing soft feeling each time you walk into your bedroom. Just like a breath of fresh air it adds a dreamy feeling and a ton of versatility making it one of the best go to bed colors. In fact blue is one of the best color for sleep as it is very calming. One of the best thing you can do is get yourself a blue bed, according to a recent study an individual with a blue bed or bedroom slept for an approximate of 8 hours. This show cases how good the blue color is since even an average person doesn’t even get 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. As if that is not good enough 60 percent of people who sleep on a blue bed or bedroom are likely to wake up each morning very happy, after all who wouldn’t after such a great sleep.

Gray

Gray as a color can be somehow depressing and uninspiring especially in a darker bedroom, and as you already know sleeping in a gray bedroom is not as satisfying as sleeping in a brighter bedroom. Gray might not be as inviting as other colors but that doesn’t mean that a Gray bed is not a good choice for your bedroom. All you need to know before choosing a gray bed or any other no so bright colored bed is which bedroom décor is the best for that specific bed color. With a gray bed it can be really advantageous especially if you have an all-white bedroom since it will tone down the general look for your bedroom, creating some form of contrast. In case you have a bright bedroom and you wish to tone down I would definitely recommend for you a gray bed to help tone down your bedroom décor.

Natural

Many people tend to think that in order to create a dramatic high-contrast bedroom space, you need to decorate your bedroom with bright colors or moody greens, blues, and reds. Well, it’s time to think again, because now with a natural colored/themed bed you can create a dreamy, dramatic and romantic bedroom space. A natural bed gives your bedroom a cozy and romantic look which is much better that the traditional rather spooky and cave like look, that is achieved through lots of unnecessary painting. Especially if you are a minimalist a natural bed is your best option as it gives you that minimalist look since it’s perfectly fine without any clutter and unnecessary furnishing and also it provides you with a clean, serene vibe. If you intend to keep an all-natural vibe in your bedroom then you should go and get yourself a Natural bed.

White

A white bed is definitely a show stopper, it’s plain and simple. Despite people referring to white as lack of other colors, a white bed makes quite a statement. It gives your bedroom space a more open and timeless feel, while allowing your bedroom décor to standout even more clearly. A bed with a pure shade of white energizes your entire space giving it a vibrant new look, giving you the illusion of a more light within your bedroom. What makes a white bed a favorite for many is the fact that white as a color creates a relaxing sleep environment. And as you know choosing the right color is very important, since color is like magic and can influence your state of mind and emotions. If there is one thing you should do right is get yourself a white bed and enjoy every single moment you spend in your bedroom.

Bunk Loft

Sometimes, bunk beds and loft beds are often being used interchangeably. Don't fall for it. These two bed types have a difference. Yes, you may notice that they both have a ladder. However, a bunk bed has at least two beds stacked on top of each other and a loft bed, though a double-level bed as well, is only a single bed. Bunk beds are commonly seen in hostels, military camps, and dormitories. In addition, some of this kind come with a trundle or pull-out bed that can accommodate one more person.

On the other hand, loft beds allow you to use the space beneath your bed as a study or work area or as a closet. If the time will come when you decide that you don't need a bunk bed anymore, don't worry, you can convert it to a loft bed. Simply and carefully remove the bottom bunk. Depending on your needs, both bunk and loft beds are space-saving.

Kids

The home is the training ground for children. It's where they learn and cultivate their values and character. So as a parent or a guardian, you play a big role in who they will become. Allow them to be themselves, to explore what they like, and to play with their imagination. Actually, you can start with their bedroom. How? Ask them what wall color they like. If you have an extra budget for a custom-made bed, ask your little one how he would like for it to look like. A car? A train? A spaceship? A dollhouse? Or if you can, build the bed yourself! It can be a great bonding time for you and your kids.

A kid's bed can also be space-saving with its built-in drawers, which can be a way to tidy up their toys and books. Beds with bedside table, where your child(ren) can study and play with papers and crayons, are also available in the market. Of course, kids love to play. Make bedtime fun with tent beds, beds with slide, and house-shaped kids' beds! Surely, your youngster will enjoy both his waking and sleeping hours.

Bed frames also known as bed steads are terms used to describe the support your mattress rests upon. It’s that part of your bed that holds up your mattress from the floor. A bed frame is one of the most overlooked part of a bed when making a bed purchase as most people tend to focus on the mattress alone, however, it’s good to note that bedframes play a crucial role when it comes to the comfort of your bed. The right bed frame provides you with enough comfort and support despite the type of mattress you are sleeping on, so if you have a bed that’s squeaking, sagging, or unstable the problem is usually your bed frame. As we all know a good night sleep starts with a solid foundation, a bedframe will impact the quality of sleep you get, a bed frame will even cause back pains and aches.

Beds

In this modern age beds consist of a soft cushioned mattress and a bed frame, the mattress is usually resting on a sprung base, solid base, or a wood slats. Beds come in different sizes ranging from infant-sized cribs to small beds that can just accommodate one person, to large king and queen sized beds designed for two or more people. Most bed are usually a single mattress and a fixed frame, however there are other varieties such as a sofa bed, which folds out of a sofa or a murphy bed that folds in to a wall. There are different types of fabric-upholstered bed depending on the textile used and each of them has its distinct advantages and disadvantages. A linen-upholstered bed is breathable, easy to clean, and hypo-allergenic, but is prone to wrinkles and low stain-resistance. A velvet-upholstered bed is good for those with pets and can be dyed in rich colors, but high-maintenance and very expensive. A cotton-upholstered bed is abrasion-resistant and allows you to maintain a cool feeling, but not that stain-resistant and its fibers may weaken when directly exposed to sunlight. A corduroy-upholstered bed is durable, low-maintenance, and inexpensive, but can be heavy. But, whichever type you choose, surely fabric can turn your bed into a comfortable one.

Pine

Do you love a rustic, classic bedroom style? A pine wood bed frame should be at the top of your shopping list! Pine wood bed frames are an ideal wood to stain, which gives you the opportunity to change or enhance your style as your preferences change. It’s a perfect choice whether you want to achieve a rustic, warm bedroom environment, or a more modern, contemporary sleep space.

Softwoods

Softwood wood varieties are wood types that are sourced from cone bearing trees (evergreens with needles), such as spruce, pine, and fir. Softwood wood varieties are well-known for their superb ability to resist decay and/or rot, making them an ideal choice for both indoor and outdoor use; they are long-lasting and very durable. Softwood wood varieties are also versatile and are the top choice for designing and crafting furniture with ornate, distinct details. Softwoods are more vulnerable to dings or dents; however, they are still very sturdy and dependable furniture pieces.
