Awesome furniture. Bought entire matching set. The darkest brown stain ever.. Renders just about black. Was worried about Pine being soft but not an issue.. Harder than expected and solidly built. Rough flat finish. Transitional but contemporary feel due to handles. I recommend.. just not in my neighborhood...I like having something unique!

We got rid of my 11-yr old son's loft bed and bought this for him to grow into. He loves it. I love it. Our kitty seems to think it's hers, ha ha. The wood stain is gorgeous. Very dark, almost black, which is what we wanted. It goes with everything: walls are painted Rustic Taupe, desk is a warm blonde wood, carpet is elephant grey, lamps/decor are old-world bronze, bamboo blinds, and chair is bright poppy red. It looks like Indiana Jones' room. There were a small number of minor knicks and scratches here and there, but nothing that anyone would notice at all. The foam in the headboard is very firm. It bounces right back after leaning on it. We used a 9.5" full-size box-spring and 9.5" mattress, which just meets the bottom of the headboard. The mattress is not secure within the frame, but only shifts around if you intentionally push it. There is just enough space around the box spring to tuck in blankets and duvets, about a 0.75" gap all around. We didn't have any handles on our bed, as another reviewer mentioned (?). One thing: once the frame was constructed (super easy - took less than 15 min) my husband inserted just the mattress to test out sizing - WITHOUT the box spring which hadn't arrived yet (not purchased from wayfair). He kind of bounced himself onto the mattress and one side of the inner bed frame cracked clear through. There are only 5 supporting slats, not enough to support anyone's weight. Yes, you must use a box spring. At the cracked side it creaked a little even with the box spring. But I found a tool box to wedge under that side of the bed for extra support and now it's perfect again. Very solid, no creaking. All is well, and we are so happy to have found the perfect bed for our son. Thanks, wayfair!
