I just constructed this bed two days ago and I want to add my experience to the mix of reviews. First of all, the bed came in four boxes and it was packaged carefully to help prevent damage. I unpacked everything and inventoried and sorted the parts and I found nothing missing. Each piece of wood had a letter sticker for ID. This took about 30-45 minutes, but was worth it for peace of mind and to speed construction.I was impressed with the quality of the wood and the hardware. About 90% of the construction is achieved with the included allen wrench and a Phillips-head screwdriver. I had no trouble lining up the parts and everything fit together the first time. The process of actually attaching everything lasted about 2 hours. I was being slow and methodical. There is only one part of the process that requires two people: lifting the bed component onto the bottom part (you build the upper and bottom parts separately). If you include clean up time, I took about three hours to create this bed.It is a beautiful bed and my daughter is very pleased with it. It feels very substantial, and best of all: it can be taken apart for transport when she heads off to college. If it is helpful to know, I have put together various kinds of purchased furniture before and so I would call myself better than average in the experience department. Yet nothing in the construction process seemed to be difficult. The best advice in building this is to simply take your time.No comments on shipping or customer service as I had no problems.Read more

This is the coolest bed! Bought it for my 6 year old son. He and my 9 year old use it all the time. This bed is excellent quality, very sturdy and will last a long time. The bed doesn't wobble like some cheaper beds and the wood is solid. I was surprised how big the bench seats and table were. It's large enough for 4 people to sit at the bottom. My kids and I have sat there putting legos together and playing with my son's ugglys. I bought cheap battery operated track lighting and stuck then to one of the slats above the table so that we had lighting and it worked really well. (the picture is before I bought the lighting. you can see how dark it is under there) I love that there is space underneath to put toy boxes/baskets too.Regarding putting it together, well, I'm 46 and very overweight and managed to do it by myself. It took 1 hour to open all the boxes and take everything piece by piece upstairs then about 4 hours to put it together. Since I was by myself I installed the top while on a ladder, rather than putting it together on the floor and trying to raise it up. (skipped to step 8 and started working, using my ladder as second hands to hold wood, especially the slats. those darn slats, all stapled together were a pain but I did it, thanks to my ladder) The only thing I can say negative about this bed is the bottom cushions are very thick and hard. I don't imagine sleeping on them would be comfortable. Buy a pad or egg crate to put on top, under the sheets. But, at least sitting on them is very comfortable and they will last a long time.Read more

Thoroughly impressed with this purchase! First, the packaging was amazing. Nearly every piece was wrapped in thin foam sheeting and boxed with more foam and cardboard spacers. Not a dent or scratch on anything. Alas, give yourself an hour to unbox and inventory. Assembly was very simple and all the hardware was present. It requires just one size allen wrench (included) and a philips screwdriver. The top bunk support slats are numerous and sturdy. Finally, the bench chairs are very thick and make into a great lower bunk. I DEFINITELY GIVE THIS MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.Minor issues to consider, though:1) Top Bunk bed slats are unstained white pine and stand out. Would prefer they be same color as everything else.2) The wood is very soft pine and dents quite easily.3) The assembly instructions are pictographs only, no written explanations. A few sections need further detail.4) Assembly Time is stated as 30 mins. Hah! Give yourself 2 hrs after an hour of unboxing.

This bed is perfect for our 8 year old daughter. We needed a place for her to do homework and hangout with friends and an extra bed for her friends when they stay over! This is a quality product, very sturdy and well worth the price. The color is exactly as I expected, very rich color, and matches our daughters other furniture perfectly. No scratches or damage on the delivery.I am a 44 year old woman and I put this together by myself. It took me about 6 hours. Instructions were fairly easy. I would recommend this bed to anyone looking to save space and have a very functional piece of furniture. My daughter told me I made her dream come true! Worth every dime to me to hear those words!

1) There were several nicks and dings on pieces when I took them out of the box. I will have to buy stain to correct these errors. I asked the manufacturer for stain to match and was told that they do not have any stain.2) The boxes did not include assembly instructions so I had to call the manufacturer to request the instructions.3) I also called the manufacturer to complain about two parts that do not work and I need replacement parts for. The manufacturer told me to make a request for replacement parts to the store where I purchased the item. The built-in threaded barrel nuts at the top of the right and left ladder stiles (labeled parts S & T) are not well-secured inside the rails. That means that when I put the long bolts through the front guard rails and into the stiles, the bolt will not tighten. I cannot attach a photo because a picture does not capture that the barrel nut spins inside the stile rather than holding steady so that the bolt can be secured.Update: 8/4/15. It has only been 2 days since we assembled the bunk bed. Top bunk front guard rail popped off the left ladder stile as seen in picture.

Questions & Answers

What is the weight capacity on the ladder? Weight capacity on the seats (bed when in seat/desk configuration)?
I am 230lbs, I sleep on the top just fine. The weight capacity is for the wood slats and a bunky board makes that capacity the strength of the posts, which if you put a hardwood 3x3 under a car, it would hold the car up. The only problem is if an earthquake happens, it will collapse with that much weight if you dont at… see more

Does it come with the cushions?
Yes it does! They are very sturdy too. Just be careful with the table top - it's easy to dent/scratch. My daughter is 11 & still loves this bed. Perfect for a small room! It's tall, I can sit easily at the table :-)

dues it consume a lot of space.
We have the white one and it may not consume more space, but it does feel like it. We had to get a new mattress as her current twin size left a gap of about 5 inches to the end railing (length). It can overpower a small room which is why we are getting rid of it but with an appropriate size room, it is awesome.42.5… see more

Is the table sturdy enough for eating, doing homework, etc.? Is it made of pressed board or real wood? I know it gets scratched easily.
Yes it is sturdy enough to eat on, do homework, play cards etc. I think it,s real wood. Put placemats on to prevent scratching.
