Works great for what I need however it’s really time consuming to put together. Inside “shelves” are pretty flimsy and not the full length of a cd/dvd as others have mentioned but so far no issues. I received one piece slightly damaged even though box was very securely packed but it didn’t impact putting it together. Also, ended up damaging one piece while putting it together; contacted customer service fully expecting to pay for a replacement part. They sent out a new part immediately at no charge so that was impressive. If you have a large media catalog, this is a good option to keep it neat and behind doors to avoid clutter.

Three stars for the cabinet as is, but 5 stars with my improvements. I bought a near identical cabinet (dark finish, top loading design) about ten years ago. Through many repairs and re-paintings, it was finally collapsing. I looked for a sturdier solution, but couldn't find a design I liked as well. I ordered this cabinet but took a trip to the hardware store for some modifications. I bought a 2' X 4' sheet of 1/8" plywood, an 8 foot length of 1X6 lumber (pre-primed clear pine board), and a package of particle board screws. I also used my good quality wood glue instead of the tubes of whatever it was they supplied. I trimmed the 1X6 to replace the two flimsy shelves provided, using them as a pattern. I also had to increase the size of the notches in the two upright ribs they fit into. I followed the assembly directions, using the sturdier shelves. I also used the plywood sheet for the lower back. It wasn't quite big enough so I used one of their flimsy plastic pieces to fill the gap at the top. I used the particle board screws to fasten the plywood backing to the sides, support ribs, and shelves, giving stability to all. I now have a good looking cabinet that will not collapse with the weight of a full load of DVDs.

While I love the overall style of this piece and how much it can hold, it is fairly flimsy for the price that is charged. Beware, if the flooring where you are placing this piece is even slightly slanted, the doors will not stay shut! Now my house, like many, has slanting issues from settling so no matter where it was placed in the living room, the "ground" is not level. The magnets are not strong enough to compensate so the doors just swing open. Fortunately we have a toddler so I put child safety locks on the handles to keep her out of it, which is the only way the doors stay shut. It does not come with an anchor which we bought ourselves and installed. Also when received it was missing some screws so I had to contact the seller. They sent it out quickly, but still had a half put together unit for a few days until it came.Again, it looks great, but the quality is lacking in key areas like the strength of the magnets on the door. Also for knowing how heavy this could get filled, an anchor should be supplied at the price charged. I don't think it is worth the cost, should definitely be under $200 based on materials used.

Disappointed with this purchase. Constructed of cheap particle board covered with black paper. Literally falls apart putting together. Worst $300 I ever spent. I do not recommend this product. Asking for a refund.

This is definitely not worth the price! If it hadn’t taken so long to put together I would be returning. The dvd shelves on the doors are flimsy and the wires that hold them in place keep popping off, the description says it holds 440- over 600 dvd/Blu-ray’s but I have mine filled with both and it still only holds 434 total! Whoever gave out that bit of information apparently can’t count!

Ok. Let’s start with the positives. Most importantly, I have a place for ALLLLLL of my movies! Next, it’s actually a pretty piece. The walnut color is just a hair more cool toned than I’d want, but obviously not worth the trouble of trying to return. Now for the negatives. Already. 1: Assembly was an absolute nightmare. My dad put it together for me himself, because I tend to mess these things up. It took him a total of between 4-6 hours, working on it for a few hours at a time on 2 separate days. 2: This is a random one, but it stinks. I don’t know why, but hopefully, it’ll go away soon. 3: The shelves that hold the movies on the doors are plastic & it tells you to glue them together, which never works, so I don’t know what they were thinking with that. They didn’t hold, of course & turned the black plastic white, but it’s more for keeping the width the same as opposed to actually holding them onto the door, if that makes sense. 4: Getting movies out can be tricky & you can’t leave too much space to get them out easily, because they’ll lean over, causing the doors not to close. Just trading one inconvenience for another basically.. 5: I also have a majority of dvds & the doors BARELY close. Just another 2 centimeters & it would’ve been fine, but that’s definitely a mark against it, since it’s advertised for both. 6: The little wires for each shelf to hold the movies in are annoying & I might just remove them altogether. 7: The drawers do not have anything stopping them from coming all the way out, which is a huge negative for me, so you have to be extra cautious with them. Even just a small little wood square above them, so you’d have to angle them to get the drawers out would’ve been great. The fronts are also not quite tall enough, so you can see just a little bit of the movies when looking at the unit straight on. 8: I really don’t like the hardware either. Just switching them to silver, or gold would be much better, in my opinion. Thankfully, they’re all screwed in & not glued, which I was concerned about, so at least I can change them. 9: Last, but not least, the drawer furthest to the right is really really tight. It’s the exact same size as the other drawers. I even took them all out & tried them in that spot & they were all really tight, so a slight manufacturing error there.. My dad said the instructions didn’t even clarify at certain points that certain things needed to be done, which slowed the process even more. He also said he would 100% NOT recommend this product unless someone just really wants to build something super complicated :P Overall, I’m glad that all of my movies are in one spot & in something pretty, but it’s not quite worth the money/trouble. It’s a shame, because the idea is so great. I don’t have high hopes for durability in the long run though. It could be great with a bit more work on the manufacturer’s end.Read more
