Here are pictures from box to finish.. When I have time I'll specify the 2 or 3 flaws in the assembly manual- no big deal if you're paying attention. The wood is medium hardness.. scratched when my husband came in to assemble with me, and we weren't communicating as we moved the pieces around. Once he was gone and I finished ;) I used a medium-wood coloring marker to cover our marks. Nobody will ever know! Also, package weight was 128 lbs total. For height reference, our ceilings are a few inches shy of 10 feet tall. That's all for now. Great bunk for a really low price! Assembly and directions were very clear and easy and we love that this is solid wood. The vertical ladder saves a lot of space. There were some pieces with a gauge or scrape here and there but I assumed this would be the case for pretty inexpensive bunk. We were able to hide them against the wall for the most part. Note that you will definitely notice the bolts in the bed, they are not sunken nor capped and although we ordered white, the bed is more of an ivory color (it matches our “ivory” blankets more closely then our other white furniture). It seems to be thin layers of white paint over the light yellow wood, so I think that’s why it’s not a pure white. We don’t mind at all- it’s beautiful and very functional! Lots of room for under bed storage too!

Takes a little while to put together, but this bunk bed looks great and is super solid. Literally no wobble whatsoever me and my kids on are either level. I'm around 175 lbs and my kids are both still under 50 lbs each. Just be sure to purchase a bunkie board to lay over the slats to add extra support to the mattress and keep it from sagging between the support boards, especially if you are using a memory foam mattress. We went with a 6"thick mattress and it fits perfectly. Took me, the wife, and the kids about 2-3 hours to full assemble. Of course I did most of the work while they just watched, but it's helpful to have somebody who can hold the parts while you insert and tighten the bolts that secure them together.

Okay I spent days searching for bunkbeds for my boys 5 and 2. We checked everything from the room place, to walmart, target, Ashley furniture, value city, bobs furniture and amazon. After days of searching we decided on these beds. I wanted it in a darker color but the delivery was too far out. So we went with white (although it's more ivory than white but I also think lighting plays a role.) Either way we LOVE the white!Delivery was a day late and when i contacted Amazon they explained something was wrong with their truck hence it being late. When it came it came secured nothing was broken or sticking out as some reviews mentioned. It took both my husband and I to bring it in as it was heavy. We brought it up to the boys room and opened the box up. There was a slight smell to it like a mix of wood and paint but we opened the window while we put it together and by the time it was done the smell was very minimal to non existent im hoping in a few days it's completely gone. The setup took about an hour to an hour in a half. Once put together we tested out the sturdiness and called our 5 yr old to see how he does with climbing the ladder and he loved it! We did put a munchkin rail guard on the bottom bunk for our toddler and it fit perfectly with the mattress. The wood is solid and sturdy. We used 6" memory foam mattress for both bunks and they fit great! We got the mattress from target for 100 bucks!Overall as of now we're completely satisfied with the bed! Will update in a few months!Read more

Play Video Extremely disappointed in this product and in Amazon.First package arrived damaged, with actual pieces of the wood sticking out and visible scratched, I refused it back to the UPS driver. After two weeks from my initial order (I'm a Prime member) I finally received the second box that appeared to be beat up a bit but at least no pieces were sticking out of it.Upon unpacking at least half of the finished pieces had some significant visual damage to them. The pics I attached are, with a couple of exceptions, all from a different piece of the bed. Some pictures are just minor dings and I only include them to state that there were probably another 5-8 pieces that had similar dings which I didn't bother to document as they felt minor compared with the more major defects found and pictured. Deep gouges, scratches, and problems with the finish are evidenced in the pictures. At this point I really wanted to pack it all up and send it back again, but we were now 2 weeks into our ordering and finding an alternative was going to take that much longer. We had already moved furniture around to create space to build so I decided that I would live with the poor quality control that is evidenced in this product.I will say assembly was straightforward. My wife and I built it in probably an hour (we were interrupted and had to do some clearing/cleaning, but actual build time was probably an hour). We made only one mistake when we placed the top bunk on backwards so the ladder holes were lined up wrong. This was an easy fix we simply had to lift and turn. The worst quality issue with the bed however we realized just before we mounted the 2 beds together. One of the guard rails of the top bunk was cut an inch or two long. Because the wood bowed it didn't cause any problem when we were assembling it. After assembly however you could see a significant bow to the one rail and it literally flops/pops back and forth when you apply moderate pressure to it. This problem is shown in my last few pics as well as the video posted. I thought about sanding/cutting myself to fix but believe this would have impacted where the lockbolts are positioned on the ends of this rail and could have caused more issues. We also ordered a 2 pack of mattresses from Amazon and were a bit concerned as some of the negative reviews stated they had an odor to them upon opening (at least for a while). I can state that those mattresses gave us no concern as the bed frame itself stinks to high holy heaven of varnish and other chemicals. I didn't notice when we unpacked and were building, but after the bed sat built in my daughter's room for an hour we began to smell it. We left the house for about 4 hours and when we came back all the back bedrooms and hallway reeked of the smell. I'm sure this will eventually go away, but really they should state in the item description that it should have to lay out for a couple days before building or installing into a child's room. By the time the smell permeated it was too late. The quality of the wood itself (apart from the aforementioned damages) seems decent quality. The bed frame seems relatively sturdy. It is supposed to support 250 lbs on each bed, but when I climbed the ladder to get on the top (I'm under 150) I felt like it strained under the weight. Furniture put together with these types of bolts tends to lose a lot of stability over the first year or two of life. If it remains as stable as it is now, I might come back and raise the rating a star or two, but for now I'm really disgusted at how long it took me to receive and the quality of the product.Read more

I know the bunks weight limit is 250 lbs. what is the weight limit for the ladder? I doubt it’s 250 lbs.
My teenage niece slept on the top bunk and she weighs 130lbs/5'4". She had no problem with ladder holding her. I'm not sure it would hold a 250 lb person.

Twin

A Twin bed also referred to as a single bed is one of the smallest bed in the market with a dimension of 38’’ by 75’’. Its compact size makes it ideal for single sleepers may it be children or an adult living in a small space such as a studio apartment. It’s an affordable and versatile bed set up for various sleepers such as toddlers and college student in the dorm. For over several decades it has been one of the most popular beds among college students and young children in their early teens as you can find it in most of their bedrooms, however in this modern age where people are seeking for more comfort and space, the popularity of twin beds is been over taken by queen size beds. Despite being great for growing children it’s also very flexible and versatile especially if you are trying to maximize the space in your bedroom.

Box Spring Not Required Platform

Platform beds do not require a box spring mattress, as they can support any mattress at all. This makes platform beds highly versatile beds that can be the main bed for a large family home, all the way to being the spare bed in a guest bedroom. The versatility of these beds makes them easy to use, and very easy to work into any bedroom. They can also provide a clean minimalist look, because there is no headboard sticking out and drawing attention. Platform beds are an excellent fit for anyone that wants their bed to be subtle and not draw too much attention. The box-spring-not-required-platform bed is easily customised to look exactly how you want, as there is no headboard dictating the overall style and look of the bed either. The platform bed is recommended for those times when you need a bed to fit into any bedroom setting and can be moved to another room at any time where it will also be a great fit.

Gray

Gray as a color can be somehow depressing and uninspiring especially in a darker bedroom, and as you already know sleeping in a gray bedroom is not as satisfying as sleeping in a brighter bedroom. Gray might not be as inviting as other colors but that doesn’t mean that a Gray bed is not a good choice for your bedroom. All you need to know before choosing a gray bed or any other no so bright colored bed is which bedroom décor is the best for that specific bed color. With a gray bed it can be really advantageous especially if you have an all-white bedroom since it will tone down the general look for your bedroom, creating some form of contrast. In case you have a bright bedroom and you wish to tone down I would definitely recommend for you a gray bed to help tone down your bedroom décor.

Natural

Many people tend to think that in order to create a dramatic high-contrast bedroom space, you need to decorate your bedroom with bright colors or moody greens, blues, and reds. Well, it’s time to think again, because now with a natural colored/themed bed you can create a dreamy, dramatic and romantic bedroom space. A natural bed gives your bedroom a cozy and romantic look which is much better that the traditional rather spooky and cave like look, that is achieved through lots of unnecessary painting. Especially if you are a minimalist a natural bed is your best option as it gives you that minimalist look since it’s perfectly fine without any clutter and unnecessary furnishing and also it provides you with a clean, serene vibe. If you intend to keep an all-natural vibe in your bedroom then you should go and get yourself a Natural bed.

White

A white bed is definitely a show stopper, it’s plain and simple. Despite people referring to white as lack of other colors, a white bed makes quite a statement. It gives your bedroom space a more open and timeless feel, while allowing your bedroom décor to standout even more clearly. A bed with a pure shade of white energizes your entire space giving it a vibrant new look, giving you the illusion of a more light within your bedroom. What makes a white bed a favorite for many is the fact that white as a color creates a relaxing sleep environment. And as you know choosing the right color is very important, since color is like magic and can influence your state of mind and emotions. If there is one thing you should do right is get yourself a white bed and enjoy every single moment you spend in your bedroom.

Honey

The honey look is a gorgeous finish that will make any bed pop and draw attention to itself. If you’re after a beautiful, smooth looking finish that’s easy to maintain and look after, then the honey finish is the choice for you. With an elegant yet natural look - the honey finish will make your bed the talk of the town. For a really nice complementary look, use light natural colored furnishings in the room, and light colored pillowcases and a light colored quilt cover - this will work so well with the honey finish to create a beautiful vibrant style in the room. Or, you can be a little daring, and use darker colors like black - this will work in contrast to the honey finish, and make the bed stand out in a dazzling kind of way. The honey look is a great choice for anyone that wants a bed that’s very appealing to the eye, and is versatile enough to suit a more casual laid back room, or become a bold and impactful centrepiece in the room.

Wood

A wooden bed is a very popular choice especially when you are out buying a bed for your kids as they come with a number of advantages. Such as: wooden beds are known to be long lasting. At one point in life most of us have slept in a wooden bed, plus wooden beds can be traced back in history to our Tudor ancestors. If you opt to get you kid a bed of his or her own a wooden bed is always the best choice, since they are much easier to clean and maintain since its common knowledge how messy a child’s bedroom become. What makes a wooden bed the perfect choice for your child’s bedroom is its ability to withstand everything your child throws at it. This is because wooden beds are known to be sturdy and robust no matter the environment they are in.

Classic

Everyone wishes for a bedroom that looks like those found in the glossy pages of a home décor magazine, but due to budget constrains many people are not to achieve such a look. If you didn’t know it’s still possible to give your bedroom that expensive look and feel at a low budget which is achieved using the classic style. A classic styled bedroom is all about the details. However one thing you should note is that your bedroom will never look or feel classic as long as it’s dirty or filled with clutter no matter how much you spend decorating the bedroom. In order to incorporate that classic style into your bedroom you should ensure that your bedroom has the needed amount of space as we all know any luxurious looking bedroom should have that feeling of more floor space.

Cherry

Cherry wood is an elegant, sophisticated and traditional choice when it comes to bedroom furniture, especially bed frames and headboards. The rich color of a cherry wood finish adds a cozy ambience to your bedroom and promotes restful relaxation. Not only is the cherry wood finish a traditional selection and very aesthetically pleasing, it is extremely strong and durable. The rich color of cherry wood is an ideal choice for larger bedrooms, as the darker color can create a large focal point within the room. Cherry wood bedroom furniture is complemented well with warm room colors, such as a rich red, a soft yellow, or a muted orange or terra cotta palette. Alternatively, if you have a smaller room, cherry wood can still look gorgeous against soft blues or grays. Cherry wood enhances the coziness and warmth of your bedroom and is a perfect way to increase the beauty of your sleep space.

Hardwoods

Hardwood wood varieties refer to the type of tree the wood is taken from; it has nothing to do with how heavy or dense the wood is (contrary to popular belief!). Hardwood woods are sourced from trees that have leaves and lose their leaves in the winter months. Types of hardwood trees include hickory, maple, oak, birch and cherry (among others). Wood from hardwood trees is usually harder and therefore more dense, as these trees tend to grow at a slower rate. Hardwood is ideal for use in indoor furniture crafting, as it is sturdy and durable. Most hardwood varieties are bright and beautiful in their natural tone/shade, but many take well to staining, finishes and paints. The hardwood varieties offer a cozy, warm look and enrich your bedroom style. Hardwood bed frames are a great way to brighten your bedroom and enhance the overall look and feel of your sleep space!

Pine

Do you love a rustic, classic bedroom style? A pine wood bed frame should be at the top of your shopping list! Pine wood is a softwood variety, meaning it is well-suited for use in both indoor and outdoor furniture because of its durability. Pine is a shock-resistant wood that is strong and long-lasting and is well-suited for crafting ornate and intricate details; this only adds more beauty to your home! Pine wood is lighter in color with an almost creamy white appearance; it is beautiful in both its natural state or finished with a stain. Pine wood is also lighter in weight than some other wood varieties, making assembly of bed frames relatively simple and quick. Pine wood bed frames are an ideal wood to stain, which gives you the opportunity to change or enhance your style as your preferences change. It’s a perfect choice whether you want to achieve a rustic, warm bedroom environment, or a more modern, contemporary sleep space.

Softwoods

Softwood wood varieties are wood types that are sourced from cone bearing trees (evergreens with needles), such as spruce, pine, and fir. Softwood wood varieties are well-known for their superb ability to resist decay and/or rot, making them an ideal choice for both indoor and outdoor use; they are long-lasting and very durable. Softwood wood varieties are also versatile and are the top choice for designing and crafting furniture with ornate, distinct details. Softwoods are more vulnerable to dings or dents; however, they are still very sturdy and dependable furniture pieces. Due to the wood type’s versatility, softwood bed frames are ideal for people who love an ornate and detailed décor style. Softwood wood types most often have a neutral, earthy color and pair well with bright color palettes to create a gorgeous contrast and give your bedroom a fresh new look!

Espresso Wood

When talking about coffees, espresso is the strong black one. In furniture and woods, it is actually somewhat similar to that. Espresso is a deep, dark brown color, so dark that it is sometimes mistaken to be jet black when, in fact, it stands between the two colors. If you want your bed to look elegant, go for espresso wood. It will also appear neat because dark color can magically tuck away dirt and dust. When under direct lighting, espresso gives out red hues. Cabinets, tables, and shelves that are in espresso sell more than those in light colors because many people opt for a traditional and classic look. Because of its neutral color, espresso is very versatile. It can go well with any home color scheme and design style. Since it's not black and definitely not a bright color, espresso can be pleasing and gentle to the feeling and to the eyes. It can also make you feel relaxed because of its soothing and coffee-like color, perfect after a long day at work.

Espresso may also be your favorite drink! You will definitely wake up feeling energized just by seeing your bed.
